Prognostic significance of coronary arteriography.

چکیده
An index of severity of coronary artery disease is described which takes into account the site, severicy and number of ali iesions in the coronary arreries. A percentage figure is computed with low percentages indicating severe disease. Ten year follow-ip for 1050 medi caliy treated patients are given. During che period of observation the overali mortaiity rate was 6.3%. 68% of deaths occurring in the first year and 97% in the first five years. Survival curves are drawn for five years and cindicate significant differences in survival between the four quartikes of the coironary index. In particular, a high risk group is described with a coronary index of 25% or iess. Left ventricular abnormalities furtther decrease the survival rates.

Long-term prognostic value of coronary calcification detected by electron beam computed tomography in patients undergoing coronary arteriography.
Calcification Detected by Electron Beam Computed Tomography in Patients Undergoing Coronary Arteriography To the Editor: The paper by Keelan et al1 addresses an important issue, namely how to define which patients with symptomatic coronary artery disease (CAD) are at risk for future events. They argue that coronary artery calcification (CAC) provides incremental prognostic value after clinical ...
متن کاملPrognostic significance of progression of coronary atherosclerosis.
BACKGROUND Angiographic progression of coronary atherosclerosis is frequently observed in clinical practice and is used as an end point in clinical trials; however, its prognostic significance is unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS Progression defined as an increase in diameter stenosis by > or = 15% of at least one coronary lesion was seen in 141 (42%) of 335 patients who underwent repeat coronary ...
متن کاملProgress study of 590 consecutive nonsurgical cases of coronary disease followed 5-9 years. II. Ventriculographic and other correlations.
SUMMARY The clinical progress was studied in a series of 590 consecutive nonsurgical patients with coronary disease documented by selective coronary arteriography. All had 50% or more obstruction in at least one major artery. Patients who were operated on within 5 years were excluded. Observations of the survivors ranged from 5 to 9 years. During the total observation period 263 patients died; ...
متن کاملPrognostic importance of quantitative analysis of coronary cineangiograms.
Many studies have shown the prognostic value of angiographic data, but few have examined quantitative parameters of wall motion and shape or coronary stenosis severity. To determine whether these parameters have prognostic importance, baseline angiograms of 283 patients with up to 11.2 years (mean 8.3) of follow-up were quantitated. Event-free survival curves were constructed using log-rank tes...
متن کاملPrediction of life-threatening arrhythmia in patients after myocardial infarction by late potentials, ejection fraction and Holter monitoring.
In order to compare the prognostic significance of late potentials (LPs) on signal-averaged electrocardiogram (SA-ECG), left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) and 24-hour Holter monitoring (HM) following myocardial infarction, a prospective study on 60 patients (age 61.7 +/- 8.02 years old) just after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) was done. LPs, EF and HM were performed in all patients. Co...
